What do YOU pay to produce a plastic bag?
- The production of plastic bags requires petroleum and often natural gas, both non-renewable resources. Prospecting and drilling for these resources contributes to the destruction of fragile habitats and ecosystems around the world.
- The toxic chemical ingredients needed to make plastic produces pollution during the manufacturing process.
- The energy needed to manufacture and transport disposable bags eats up more resources and creates global warming emissions.
What do YOU pay to consume a plastic bag?
- All though it seems like retailers give away free plastics bags, the cost is passed on to YOU in the form of higher hidden cost.
- YOU indirectly allow yourself to the hazards effect of chemicals used in plastics. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to understand tthe scientific mechanism, but no one couldn't deny that 'toxic in means toxic out'
What do YOU pay to dispose a plastic bag?
Plastic bags are disposable-we throw it away. But where is the away? There is NO away! It sticks around with us for a very long time (like forever).
- In a landfill, plastic bags take up to 1,000 years to degrade. As litter, they breakdown into tiny bits, contaminating our soil and water.
- Hundreds of thousands of sea turtles, whales and other marine mammals die every year from eating discarded plastic bags mistaken for food. Turtles think the bags are jellyfish, their primary food source. Once swallowed, plastic bags choke animals or block their intestines, leading to an agonizing death.
Imagine the planet earth as a huge asset and that you posses some share of it. Would you just ignore if some people are forking out YOUR pocket to make immediate profit? No sane person would remain idle in response. Similarly, I believe that each and every single citizen of the globe have an equal right and a fair share of planet earth.
I am sure that YOU don't want to pay the price of global warming, ecological destruction, lifes of the marine animals, chemical hazards towards you and infants just for a dumb-ugly-toxic-life threatening plastic bag.
This is the price you pay (and more) each time you accept a plastic bag! |
We are well informed of plactic and its' harms...but, my point was how r v goin to spread the awareness as people are seem to be in a relaxed zone....So, is an enforcement going to change all this????
